The battle lasted for 3 hours and 10 Burmese government soldiers were reportedly killed and another 7 wounded, said a frontline source. A battle took place between Kachin people militia under KIA’s 5th Brigade and Burmese Army’s Namma-based 386th LIR under MOC – 3 at Nam San Yang village on Oct 3 at 11:20 am. Another front in Hpakant region, KIA’s 6th Battalion under 2nd Brigade fought against Burmese army’s 389th LIR under Mogaung-based MOC-3 near Gwi Hka cemetery in Hpakant on Oct 2 at 3 pm. A fierce fighting occurred near border post no. 7 as KIA’s 10th Battalion under 1st Brigade encountered Burmese army’s 37th LIB on Oct 2. Despite Burma’s president recent peace rhetoric in United States, Burmese army has deployed more troops in Northern Shan State.
